my i phone has frozen!!!!

My i phone has completely frozen whilst playing one of my apps ... any ideas.. i plugged it into my lap top..but nothing. Please help.....

Hold the power button and the home button down at the same time for about ten seconds.

What do you see on the screen right now? Is it just frozen in an app?
