My iMac half Screen turned black...

i have a late 2012 imac 21 inch .. last night i was using it to play game in full screen.. then suddenly half of the screen turned black... i thought it was my game that is freezing but half of the screen i can still control my character .. then after 1-2mins screen is back to normal....

is this a sign that my imac display is dying soon?
anybody experience this? i know my imac is old... but still running well.

It's really hard to say. It could be a sign of a dying GPU, but it could just be a software glitch in the game you were playing and I'm sure there are many other possible causes...

If it's still in warranty get Apple to have a look at it

First, reboot.

Then, go about your business (I would avoid the "problem game" for now).

Go three or four days WITHOUT running that game again.

Does the problem repeat?

Finally, try the game again.

I did the apple hardware test ... It says it ok .. Is it accurate?

If it happens again take a flashlight to the dark half.

Sometimes backlight quits but screen still working.
