my imac hanging at shutdown

i installed the 10.4.9 update, now, when i shutdown it gets to the blue screen and a spinning ball thing, but stays their, im forced to hold the power button to shut it down. i have tried reseting the Pram, but it didnt help. i have done just about everything you can do in Onyx with cleaning the system. still nuthin.

Wait longer? I had that problem. It turned out to be my impatience. I think it's rewriting or updating the directory or something like that.
