Hey guys,

Whenever I go to print off of my fairly new iMac, anything I print is blank. I've reinstated the drivers, and updated the OS and that didn't work.

I bought a brand new printer, and it still prints blank pages. I was able to print a test page from the HP installer, but everything else is blank.

Any Ideas?

THANK YOU!

When you print to pdf file, what does the file look like? Does you Mac indicate the printer is connected?

First thing I would do is open the print utility and do a head check/align/whatever - check ink levels, etc from the utility.

If the printer is showing in the printers/scanners system preferences left side, delete it and then add it. Make the system look for it again.

Once - rebuilding permissions in disk utility did the trick here. It won't hurt

It actually feeds a page and there a blank page?

Yes, if i print a 5 page word document with text.... All 5 pages print blank.

My guess (and it's ONLY a guess) is that if you're having the same problem with more than one printer -- that it's NOT localized "in the printer".

Something's not right on the Mac (software)...

Try resetting the print system. Go to :apple: --> System Preferences --> Print & Fax. Then, on the left hand side in the white box, right click and hit "Reset Print System...". Report back with the results!

Sorry you're having so much trouble. Sounds you have everything but the ink.
System sees the printer, etc, so no connection problems.

If you had an earlier system on disk, cloned backup or something you could boot it and give that a try, but I'm stumped (assuming you gave all the suggestions a shot)

Hope you solve it

I'm gonna try to do the disk permission ideas, but I've tried everything else. This is so weird. I called apple and they had no solution and would get back to me...

Here's something you might try.

Create a brand-new "temporary" account.
Give it administrative privileges.
Give it any name and password that you wish (you can just delete the entire account later on)

Can you print any documents from this temp account?

You absolute Godsend. THANK YOU!!! Been struggling with this for over 2 hours - using a ****/broken Mac and a cheap printer that has always struggled and I cannot believe I have actually managed to solve it at 3.45am. Would not have been able to do this without you haha!

Glad you got it all worked out! Report back with any issues...
