I would have done the same thing. What's ridiculous are the photos where people have to circle or use arrows to point out the flaw.

It is ashame to have dropped your new Air so quickly!
Naw, was like this out of the box. I did crack my ipad 2 within two weeks but luckily Apple replaced it free of charge.
I was just kidding.
Apple will replace this one, too!

It's not gold it's space grey, just the naff lighting in my office.
Mine was pitted all along the bottom just above the speaker holes and lightning port and also across one corner. Seemed like the anodising was rushed - probably an end of shift job.
The whole space grey anodising looked a lot less smooth and even on the back of the Air than on my 5s. In fact, it looked cheap.
