my ipad just shows the apple Icon

My iPad 2 is locked and just shows the apple Icon on the middle of the screen. It is going round and round, which looks like it is trying to load. But no matter which button i press, it has no response.

It sounds as if it was reset. You'll have to restore it in iTunes. If iTunes does not see it, do a DFU mode restore.
