I just ordered this thing off of ATT's site, it just came. I unboxed it and to my surprise, I see that the chrome bezel is scratched so badly that the scratched parts are no longer chrome. It's like the chrome chipped off or something, and I'm pissed because I just got this too.

Will I have to pay restocking fee? Can I take it to the store or does it have to be sent? Since I bought it online. Also does the store have new ones because I don't want a refurbished.

You'll probably get a refurb. What's wrong with that? It'll probably better than a new one, since they get extra attention than the ones off the factory floor, IMO.

yes they do.

they are not refurbs at least from wat i have been told by managers at two different apples stores here in So Cal. they said that since the 3gs hasnt been out that long that there are not enough returns to have refurbs. all genius bar stock of phones are new but are counted as service parts because they come in that little white box. i have already swapped out three times in the last three weeks and i have been reassured that they are new not refurbs by the managers.

but if you call apple care they do send you refurbished

Dude...

You might have to send in the phone, I don't know.

But whatever you do, DO NOT ACCEPT A REFURBISHED PHONE AS A REPLACEMENT.

You paid for a NEW phone, they sent you something that was damaged. They HAVE to give you a new phone. You must not be penalized for their error.
