My room was usually had a 3 bar service on previous iPhones but my iPhone 4 only goes up to 1 bar most of the time
Today for some odd strange reason, the iPhone 4 read 4 bars which to my shock, I never had that high of reception in my room
I had my iPhone 4 at landscape at the time but hen I tilt it back into Portrait mode the bars all went down to 1 bar
But when I tilt the iPhone 4 in landscape, it only went up to 2 bars.

To let you know
I did the trick from the MR article of the reception fix
[you take out the sim card for +20 minutes before reinserting it]
and I have an old 3GS silicon case on

Edit: Well it seems that I get the 4 bars when I am watching a YouTube video but when I go to a normal page, it only goes up to 2 Bars
