What are you talking about? I've never bid on anything, I don't even have an account. If I saw something I would like to bid on, and I create an account, am I a scammer because I don't have any feedback? No, I don't have feedback because I just made the account.

I think YOUR reading comprehension is wrong.

Dude...you're wrong. The new rules of eBay are that you don't sell to bidders with negative or no feedback. Just because you are not a scammer doesn't mean that the thousands of fake accounts created everyday are not scammers. It's a real problem and one most eBay sellers recognize.

Good for you, so you havnt been ripped off yet, and I hope it never happens to you, It sucks, Craigslist was just another idea for the OP to consider.

And when come to stuff from Apple, after you consider ebay fees, paypal fees, shipping, insurance.. i get close to what i get from ebay without the headaches, But to each their own.

I get your point. In my situation Craigslist is a no no. Like I said its a buyers market where I am located. Because of this I am able to buy off Craigslist and turn a $60 - $120 profit after fees and shipping. I recently sold an htc vivid for $250 on eBay. I paid $60 for it on Craigslist.

There is obviously something wrong with this individual's bid. I'm just asking for trouble by going through with this. I will just relist it. Thanks for all your help guys.

You'll avoid multiple erroneous contributions if you go ahead and mark your thread as "Resolved." FWIW.

what are the odds that someone is dumb enough to pay you more for something that they can buy today from any other sellers on eBay or Apple for that matter for much less?

Cancel the auction and start over.

Yep. The winner will not pay.

I sent a message to the bidder. He also has a zero bid history. This is definitely fishy. I'll wait for some more suggestions. I'm thinking it's best to just re-list the iPhone. However, is there anyway to scam me via a PayPal transaction? I rarely use eBay, so I'm not aware of how this can be done.

The bidder could have a bad account with no PayPal even attached to it. You can bid even if you just make an account and link no credit cards or anything to it. Then he will just not pay and probably get his trash account banned.

This. ^^^

But you can always be somewhat selfish and just ignore anyone who is new. I don't think it's very rude to do that for such a big-ticket item. Let them get reputation by buying something else that's cheaper.

This guy is located in the United States.

You should assume it's a scam account. A US address doesn't mean it won't be forwarded. Even in the best circumstance of an ignorant buyer, it's possible that they might realize they paid too much and try to return the item and dispute the charges. Paypal is typically biased against the seller. Anyway it's not worth the risk in the cesspool that is ebay.
