I would be worried the USPS inspector would be looking for me one day, but that's me.
He didn't do anything wrong. Internet arm chair law enforcement experts make me laugh.

In fairness, no one is unknowingly or unwillingly trapped in a contract. The tradeoff for getting a new shiny overpriced phone for a couple bills is indeed the contract.First off, if your carrier calls you asking whether or not you're satisfied the correct answer is that you're extremely unsatisfied. They'll go a long way to keep you trapped in their contracts.
this is why if i ever sell an iphone on ebay, i will activation lock it.
if they claim they receive an empty box, they won't be able to use the phone unless i give them the password, in turn admitting that they did receive the phone
the buyer has been buying and selling in ebay with more than 400 positive feedback, no negatives... Ever...
I reported the imei to at&t
i have a picture frame to remind me...
Probably i won't be selling on ebay anymore...

Am I the only one who doesn;t understand how the OP signed a contract for the 5C in November and then was offered a contract renewal for the 5S, at $100, no less, a few months later?
And then they claim it's locked and that your credentials don't work....Then they send you a picture frame.![]()
something definitely sounds fishy here !
USPS does not approve and pay claims in 4 days,
especially not for claims that involve tampering and theft !
first you have to file a claim, you have to provide
proof it was insured (receipt from online svc or post office)
then you have to provide proof of value, damage, or
replacement costs (more receipts)
once claim is submitted it generally takes several days
to review and approve (never had one take less than 7-10 days)
then another several days to cut and mail a check.
additionally they're not just gonna take your word for it,
they would also contact the buyer and get their story
(picture frame does sound strange)
I'm saving the box just as I received it from the buyer... The picture frame is still the box... Oh... There's some sort of Christmas card... Sealed... Haven't opened...

This is a GREAT idea! I actually purchased a iPad mini a while back that was activation locked but had no problems having them remove it from their account.I think all sellers could benefit from this because any buyer is going to message claiming it cannot activate then there goes the ol empty box lie.

This not great. If I bought a phone and had to contact the seller just to be able to use it I would leave a negative or neutral feedback. The seller would have to disclose this in the description for it to be ok. What of the seller was hospitalized and could not be reached to provide the code?

Claimed was submitted on a Saturday night... The following Saturday at 10am I had a check on my hands from the USPS... No one contacted me, no one contacted the buyer...
When you make a claim online, You upload a Jpg of the receipt and a jpg demonstrating the value of the item, I took a picture of the insurance receipt and a screen capture of the eBay payment...

Probably more to the story.
