Running the latest beta and I fail to see this smoothness that everyone is talking about. Seems the same as iOS 11 to me on my device.

Perhaps you have had too many betas on it? I started with PB4 on iPhone 7 and now (PB6) it runs as smooth as iOS 11 on it. All the betas were installed OTA on top of iOS 11.4.1 and so forth.

That’s what I said on another topic. I think some people exaggerate a little too much about the speed and smoothness of iOS 12. For me it feels almost like iOS 11.4.1. I don’t know how they can see the « big » difference. IMO it is very minimal and you’ll see the difference if you compare it side by side.

But this IS a result, this IS something to get excited about. I know as a big critic of iOS 11 that all I was asking for was that Apple release a "finished product". I never asked for perfection, I never asked for completely flawless performance - software .0 releases like that don't exist. What I did ask for was a working product that would be acceptable to the expectations of someone being asked to spend £1000+ on their device. You wouldn't accept buying a car, and have the manufacturer say "Well the horn only works 50% of the time but don't worry, we'll fix it in a future update". Why accept it in a top-of-the-range smartphone?

iOS 12 is looking like it will be, therefore, all I've wanted in a .0 release. Something that means my phone works properly as soon as I take it out of the box, and will be IRONED OUT (not fixed, not completed - ironed out) in software updates. That to me is acceptable.

And the speed thing is very difficult to ascertain for many users because of the way the product is marketed. "70% faster" (for example), when the previous version already loaded something in 0.5 seconds is like 0.35 seconds instead (btw, used numbers there to try and make a point, don't highlight the accuracy of them I'm sure this probably doesn't add up exactly) - not as easy to notice as they make it sound. So yes the difference will be completely minimal, but it's something that adds to the overall user experience.

It's the only beta I've put on my iPhone 7 Plus. I've given it a few days to "settle down" (even though I think that's a myth) and it still stutters. It looks and feels exactly like iOS 11.4.1 to me.

Seems pretty stable for a beta, but I'm not seeing the speed and fluidity improvements that many have mentioned. Maybe it's the 1080p scaling that the 7 Plus is doing that's messing it up.

Funnily, the stutters only appear on my iPhone, but if I record the screen with quicktime, it's perfect with no stutters whatsoever, but I can visibly see them on my phone... QuickTime records it stutter free for some reason... weird.

In my experience it’s better than iOS 11 but worse than iOS 10.

Its a bit of a let down for me also on my iPhone 7. When it was previewed back in June I think speed and running on older hardware was the big selling point, to me I hardly notice any difference, it was all hype.

I was running public betas on my iPhone 7/iPad Air 2 since PB4 and the latest incarnation of it runs super fast & smooth here. By now I do not even remember how it used to run on iOS 11, but I think so far Apple have delivered on their promise to optimise iOS 11. They did a similar thing with Leopard > Snow Leopard, so you can treat iOS 12 as a big service pack for iOS 11.

Kind of like when they announced IOS 11.....

Gee no information about what you run on your phone - it could be one of more apps causing this but that wouldn't be fun.

Is it time to start the IOS 12 is the worst IOS ever and IOS 12 Bricked my devices threads or do we want to want until it is actually released.

Yes same here. No noticeable difference on my iPhone X as well. In fact, if I swipe on the home screen left and right.... the stutter is clearly visible.

its smoother on my X but still notice stutters ever now and again. I think some people are more susceptible to them. My friends X was stuttering like mad on ios 11 she didn't even notice. If it was mine id have crawled into the corner crying.
