The cable wasn't plugged into the phone, your post never says that. So that cable was exposed to the carpet plugged in.
My phone was not plug into the charger. My phone was with me, the usb charger cable was left plugged into the usb power adapter which was plugged into a surge protector. My iMac and other iPhone charging cable were plugged into the same power stripe, but unharmed.
I don't know about you but first of all, I don't let cables lay on the floor at my house, and 2, it is pretty obvious something made it burn.
No I don't make a mess of leaving cables around my house either. But say you have your cable on your desk, by chance this happens and your desk was damage or whatever, maybe even worst case you loose your home - You would still argue the same fact? Yes, I'll be honest, typically my charger is subject to exposure to my floor (once unplugging it from my phone which does sit on my desk I left it fall), however, my floor did not burn the charger, the charger burnt my floor. Same goes with a desk or what other matter holds your charger.
To all those that will argue the fact that it should have been unplugged, you are correct. However, I unplug my iron when I do not use it because it still omits heat do to it still has power. I do not unplug my dyer or microwave, because when not in use they do not send power (Before the post of semantics you get my point). If I disconnect my phone from the cable, it should not receive power there for it should not be a threat. But something happened, causing the cable to send power and with have nothing to recieve the power and or 'stop it', it over heated and melted. Now whether the cable was setting on a my floor or a desk, etc - the product faulted. How, I don't know how or why, I'm not qualified to say, and those who comment to the fact, show me how you are.
And this didn't burn you, so the same thing didn't happen. File a claim to get new carpet if it's that bad. I can't honestly wait to see these pictures, but for the love of god don't take this as a chance to sue your heart out of Apple.
No it did not burn me. The affected carpet area is about the size of a quarter. Not that bad, no. Big deal right. But why should I have to pay for a hole in my carpet due to a product failure. I'm not the guy in the restaurant who complains of a hair in my food looking for a free meal. I am an honest guy, to which feels complied to shed light of a potential treating issue. I am not out to take Apple for a lawsuit and bask in a nice settlement check, I do however feel that its right that I be compensated for my carpet pending I show an estimate of replacement cost.
If your thinking I'm the guy looking to cash in on a product mistake, your fooling yourself. Just remember, had your cable faulted on your desk or other area and it caused damage, would you look the other way?
