I have one of those tub/shower combos, and was taking a quick shower before work.

The tub/shower is against a corner of my bathroom with a window sill on one side. I've placed a curtain over it for privacy reasons but also whenever I've brought my phone into the shower before, it blocks the steam coming out of the shower head.

So it's propped against the window and all of a sudden the third alarm (I set multiple alarms) goes off and it's a ring/vibrate combo so of course the phone decides to move and takes a dive into the tub.

I use the drain stopper so my feet stays warm and there's a good inch of water and my phone falls flat on it's face.

I picked it up quickly.

Most of the water seems to have rolled off. I noticed drops still surrounding the entire phone though, especially the lightning & speakers & the side buttons.

Couldn't hear the music even though I had the bar set a little above half. I turned the music all the way up and it played softly. I have AppleCare plus so I wasn't really tripping. No exterior damage to the iPhone (maybe because it fell flat on the face?) and I placed it back onto the sill and finished showering.

After a few minutes I could hear the speaker getting louder so I readjust it to the previous spot.

Wiped it off once I got out.

Seems to work just fine :)

I wonder what happens when the phone falls into the crapper (with crap in it).

See ya in 1-3 months with a new thread about your iphone not functioning properly :p

My brother-in-law had a 3GS survive a washing machine cycle. Worked perfectly for over 2 years after that incident. Still have it lying around somewhere.

So i'm assuming it was on when it went in, did it just shut itself down and you guys put it in rice then?

It wasn't "on" when you took it out was it?

I don't remember the state of the device when we took it out. It yes put in rice for 48 hours. Never had an issue after that. Quite surprised.
