I'm in the UK too and woke up to exactly the same problem 3 days and 4 hours slow. Switched automatic clock off to fix, but would be interested in reason/solution.

What network are you on?

The solution is to turn off "automatically set date/time" in Settings > General > Date/Time and set it manually. I'm reporting this to some IT news people to try and find out more.

wrong time and date this morning

Hi I had the same issue this morning.

I fixed it by synch the Iphone with ITunes. I tried everything else before and nothing else worked.

It seems a bug affecting the Iphone 3G, the new release 4.2 should fix it. I am afraid that untill the new release is ready we cannot trust the Iphone time.
:(

Cheers

Exactly the same problem... I have t-mobile in Holland, but it seems as it's not an issue of the provider as the same problem occurs in the UK. It might have to do something with the DST shift in the US from last Sunday (I guess) which causes a bug
anyone found an answer yet?

Same problem in Norway

My iPhone 3GS went 3 days 4 hours back this morning as well. I use Norwegian provider NetCom.

iphone time off too

me too .... im in UK and the time says Sunday 7 November 2010 07:33 and it's Wednesday 10th November 2010 at 12:56.

Would be very interested to know what the problem is if anyone finds out.

thx

wrong time when on "set automatically"

Hi, I was having the same problem, got up late this morning because my iphone was 53 mins out... tried a couple of things, switch automatically off and back on, reboot the phone, but in the end what worked was syncing it with my itunes... I had the "set automatically"switched off while i did it though, i dont know if that made a difference.

Hope that helps ;)

Connecting it to my MBP and start iTunes seemed to have fixed the problem for me as well even though I do not even sync my iPhone with this system.

I had the same problem, it adjusted itself correctly last weekend for Daylight savings, but today it had gone back another hour.

Connecting to sync with iTunes has at least resolved it for now for my part.

Norway

Turning my iphone off and on fixed it. I also removed the sim card and put it back in to be safe.
I tried restarting various times but it didn't work for my iPhone. I havn't tried removing the sim card.

When I synced it with iTunes, as mentioned in a previous post, the time-set-automatically switch was on.

I have gone back 3 days and 6 hours

I thought it was just my phone until I searched here and it seems to be quite a common problem. I will have to wait until I get home but I switched off the automatic resetting of the time and date and reset manaually. When I switched it back to automatic it jumps back 3 days and 6 hours! Mad! :(

Nov 7? Its Nov 11!

Same problem here. Alarm didn't go off because the date changed to Nov 7 and time to 1957 even though its Nov 11 and 6.40am.

On the 3 network in Australia. Running 3GS with iOS4.1.

Glad I'm not the only one with the problem! Anyone know what's causing it?

same here in tokyo

My iphone went out of whack yesterday... showing the wrong time and date.
currently, it shows 9:45, monday 8 November, when it's actually 13:43, 11 November...
I tried rebooting, but still wrong.

The time is affected when you have your iPhone connected to a pc or mac that goes into sleep or hibernation and only if itunes is open at the time, iTunes loses the time and syncs the wrong time. If it does happen, close itunes and reopen with iphone connected. The time should now be corrected!

Yes, I had the same problem but this solution worked.

Same here

Yesterday all of a sudden my 3GS 32GB did the same. The date on mine is 14 November 2010 and time is 19:40......strange.

I did tried to connect my iphone to itunes and then restart itunes for a new sync but no luck.

the same

I have the same problem with my iphone, my providers is 3 from Denmark.. It shows 4 days in the future and the wrong time. And it is affecting dropbox and some other apps, because they're not able to update because of the difference of time...
Any solution?
I knew it was a mistake to by an apple product, I'm looking forward changing it to an android...
Mac and Windows sucks!!!

Solution

After having exactly the same problem I routed around for a while and found a solution. Simply go to preferences and delete the existing backup that the iPhone was saving to. Once you reconnect your iphone and resynch the time reverts back to normal. Hope it works for you too ! :)

solved!

Yay, the auto set is working on my 3Gs iOS4.1 again...!
I tried all sorts of resyncing methods with iTunes but nothing worked, so i backed up my iphone (like usual with iTunes), restored it back to its factory settings, then "restored from backup".
Now my iphone shows the correct time/date on auto set. whew.

the above sounds like a good solution, too. hadn't tried this one this time, but maybe i'll try it next time! (fingers crossed that i won't need to...)

I had similar problem and searched various threads ... some said the iPhone gets its time from AT&T but I'm in the UK so mine probably comes from O2. I searched for O2 time server and found someonesaying the O2 time server in UK is not working; it was about Broadband but it gave me a simple idea.

1. Take the iPhone off "automatic"
2. Set the date and time manually.

Not sure yet whether to put it back to automatic though, in case I forget about it when the daylight saving changes.

That will just allow you to set the correct time when you enter it manually. It will eventually be off again.

my clock advanced 2 hours, 12 minutes this morning (so I'm awake a little earlier than usual!) and like a few people here, I fixed it by re-syncing with iTunes (actually all I had to do was plug the phone in and open iTunes; no syncing). This is the first time it's happened, and I'm fairly sure that although it might have been connected when my mac went to sleep, the clock wasn't wrong on the phone until some time overnight (when it was plugged into the wall, not the mac). I'd be interested to know what's causing this...
