I've experienced this weird issue in recent weeks, after I completed a mod and replaced the hard drive with a flash memory.
Everything works just fine, except for the fact that sometimes my iPod skips a song with no reason at all. So it starts playing a song in shuffle mode, then plays, say, 30 more songs, and all of the sudden the 31th song is played only during 4 or 5 seconds and then starts the next song. However, if I manually go back to the previous song, this will play just fine.
Any ideas of what might be wrong?
By the way, not that I experience this issue too often. First, I don't use shuffle mode that much (which seems to be the only mode in which this issue happens). But I'd say that I've experienced this maybe 3 times since I did the mod like three months ago.
