I attempted to jailbreak my 8G Ipod touch with Cyw00D and it screwed my Ipod up, i do belivie its stuck and DFU mode, now my computer says the USB will not reconize it, and also it will not respond to me its just a blank screen. Please help.

Try and get it fixed by Apple or just get a new one, but either way, take this as a warning why you should NEVER jailbreak something like an iPod.

iPods were never designed or intended for any type of modification in such a manner and you have far too little control or understanding over the device to do it safely, so just don't bother.

I know people get bored of their devices but if you try and jailbreak you've pretty much got it coming to you when something bad happens.

i keep on hearing this term jailbreaking and im really not sure what it it but as long as i can listen to my music without any hastle thats all i need,

why fix what aint broken ?

well if you take it to apple theyre not gonna be very nice and charge you alot
and jailbraking means that you're removing apple's software and replacing it with something else
most people do this so they can pirate apps(which is illegal) or purely for cosmetic reasons either way its completely useless

Honestly, jailbreakin your iTouch is not as bad as they say, u have to be careful though, do research on it first rather than watch one vid or read one article and jump into it. Don't get me wrong i don't use installous(allows u to download ANY app in the market for free) but i kno a lot of people that do use it and don't have any probs with it, not sayin that it's kool to use it though. I jailbroke it because i wanna change the theme, use tweaks, widgets, etc. ya kno give it a different look and additional features. I haven't had any probs with jailbreakin my 32g 3rd Gen, or my 16 2nd gen. In other words, have fun with your iTouch, don't let anybody tell u what to and what not to do, but if u do decide to jailbreak, do extended research and have knowledge of what u doin, most of all have fun with it.....

I suggest restarting the jailbreak steps. Just start from the beginning.

It's in DFU mode I assume, so you don't have to do that again but you can to be sure you did it right. I suggest doing it manually as you have more control but it sounds like you want to use a tool so just keep it in DFU and restart the process.

I concur. I jailbroke mine because of customizing. The little widgets makes life a little easier :]

WTF, why are you spread this crap, if you want to live in bubble go ahead dont rant on things that are on true,. the ipod is probably ok,.

unhook the the ipod restart itunes and go from there (hopefully you can do restore) but first people like the OP should learn to research before doing simple this like this, if he or she had taken one min to search they would have found "blackra1n", it takes 30 sec or less. all the vids i watch were fine, just have to use some commons folks. good luck to you..

wth is cyw00D? that is like the worst way to jailbreak-a jailbreaking method nobody has heard of. well so you got it to be jailbroken, but why would you be messing around in the root folder of your ipod? dude i mean really, thats the stuff that keeps it going, u probably uninstalled the bootrom firmware or something. you, shouldnt mess around with sshing, its dangerous and can cause big problems like this.

1. Turn it off (not just sleep mode). Trying holding home + sleep buttons together until something happens.
2. Download Blackra1n from here. Click the Windows flag if you're PC and the Apple logo if you're Mac.
3. Launch Blackra1n.
4. Wait.

AFAIK, you can't "brick" iPod touches. iPhones, yes, you can "brick" them.

I have never had a problem jailbreaking my iPod touch. I do everything on my jailbroken iPod touch. I change just about everything that has to do with UI. I have tons of tweaks and things. I pirate apps, software, music, and movies on my iPod all the time. I go through my iPod and mess with system files and I use a lot of terminal commands. The only thing that has ever messed up my iPod was the Font Swap app and I will never use it again. The only negative thing I've really noticed is a small decrease in speed but that's not bad. I have jailbroken and restored my every iPod touch I've owned many many times, no bad things ever happened

if you want to jailbreak your iPod touch use redsn0w or sn0wbreeze when it is released. I don't like blackra1n very much. It is fast but I hear it has a few bugs. I haven't had any bugs from using blackra1n but they are there
