iPod touch My iPod's Capacity keeps going down, please help !

So about a couple of months ago, I realized instead of having an 8 GB Capacity, it was 7 GB, and suddenly all the space was filled up, and I couldn't even download any small apps because there was no room.
So, I just deleted a few things I didn't need, but it stayed at 7 GB. Then suddenly after we came back from vacation it said there was 6.8 GB. It's really weird how it keeps going down, and I have no clue what's happening since I'm not a tech-type of person. The same thing is slowly starting to happen to my sister too.

Did you update the firmware? Updates can use up memory capacity afaik.

Yeah, I did.
I think it was after I updated it, then the Capacity went down to 6.8

The ipod needs formatting so it wont be exactly 8GB.

That's another point. Although 8GB are written everywhere, it is only 7.something. Add the OS to it and the updates and you get much less than 8GB.

My iPod says 7GB when I plug it in and start iTunes.
