Well I have to say I ended up getting a white backplate from iresq and the pictures with flash works just as well as the flash with the black plate.
Here's a quick-and-dirty pic with the white plate:
I have the white iphone 4 conversion on my girlfriend's iphone 4 and mine.
They look nice. The home button does have a different color from the rest. you can tell the difference depending on the room lighting.
My girlfriend dropped her iPhone from her pocket's distance and landed on the top left corner. The front end cracked.

Just got my iPhone converted to white by iresq. Looks really good. One thing I noticed is that where the weather icon is if you press on it with a little pressure it makes a clicking noise like it is not fully glued down or something. I emailed them and they said this is normal since they are not oem parts. I think it will drive me crazy I will probably end up sending it back.
The backplate and front match pretty well. The home button is a different color then the front though. It was a more clicky feel than the original black button which isn't necessarily bad. Overall, I would be completely happy if the screen didn't have the clickiness in the right middle.
