My itunes randomly opens and starts playing songs.

Can anybody help me out here. My itunes is randomly opening up and playing songs. I don't understand at all. Why is this happening? Could it be a virus?

Do you happen to have 10.7 on it? Once I installed 10.7 on my MBP, iTunes started doing the same. I'm assuming it's a 10.7-related bug.

I have no idea, how do I figure out if I have it or not?

I'm guessing that because you don't know, you don't have it installed. Did you know that if you push the little play button (F8 key), iTunes will open? Maybe that's your problem.

If I press f8 itunes will open.

Could it be a virus?

There has never been a virus in the wild that affects Mac OS X since it was released 10 years ago. The handful of trojans that exist can be easily avoided with some education and common sense and care in what software you install:

I used to have this odd problem for some time, till i discovered the following

> My imac has external speakers connected to it, and the wires are sort of dangling;

I noticed whenever i move the wire connecting to the speaker on the imac, itunes starts a song automatically; Something to do with the connection;
