I am putting this out here, for feedback and general knowledge. I will update with more Crossover experiences.

OK. So a month ago, I downloaded, but was then too busy to use Crossover under trial. It elapsed, duh, and I decided to buy it and install it to my M5 MBP and M4 Studio. I was able to get the educational discount, so 30% off. I figure I can pay the renewal annually.

So I installed it on both machines. I initially did some farting around with an external SSD, then decided that was pointless and a pain. My thought was I could share Crossover GoG Library folder between the 2 machines. I then changed my mind. The Studio has plenty of external SSD storage, so just install the Library there. As for the MBP. I don't need a large installed library on it, so just install a few games.

Some of the suggestions on installing the GoG bottles seem old or contrary. There were recommendations to use a Win7 bottle for versions up to FNV. So it seemed like I needed 2 bottles? A Win10 bottle and a Win7 bottle. Attempting to make older OS bottles was not enabled, so I just made a W10 bottle.

This thread here:
I then installed to both Fallout, Fallout2 and FNV. At this point I have only gotten Fallout to run. There were initial failures when it tried to display a screen on the MBP. For the Studio, it ran fine in non-windowed mode. This was of course, annoying, because I don't want 2 black monitors while the primary shows the game. No matter what I tried on the MBP, I couldn't get past this issue. There was a recommendation to use the "Fallout Classic" app that installed. That did not work. There were also suggestions to edit the ini, to set screen size or window mode. I found a Reddit thread and someone there recommended using a different exe, FalloutHR.exe vs FalloutW.exe. That worked. But that required launching by using Crossover to go to the C: installation and traversing to the Fallout installation and selecting the exe. So not through GoG.

Another thing recommended for F3/Bethesda versions was adding some library names for sound files as a fix. I did that for FNV and will see later if I need to do more.

So on the MBP, I ran run in windowed mode and then drag the window bigger and it resized fine.

So now I have 2 GoG bottles, one on each machine. After installing on the Studio, I ran it for a few minutes, killing rats outside Vault 13.

When I got Fallout running on the MBP, I continued that game. However, when I fired up the Studio version, after making progress on the MBP (resolved Shady Sands quests), the saved games are not synced. I am thinking that this might be because of running it from the different exe. Otherwise I was expecting each to sync back to GoG's cloud.
