My Laptop Dilemma - what to do?!

Here's my situation.

I want a laptop for school so I don't have to move my entire theatre system 500km every 4 months.

I go back to school in May (say May 1st).
I am working (for Apple) until March 30th (1 day before April 1st! )

I get a 25% discount while I work for Apple. 10% student discount otherwise.

Do I get a PPC iBook? MacBook Pro? Wait and see if Intel iBook comes out before I go back?

I don't really need a Pro model for student use but I don't like the idea of buying a PPC at the end of it's lifecycle.

Someone else make this decision for me

whatever you do, don't let that 25% discount slip away. That's at least $500 on an MBP.

I ended up going back to Apple for my next co-op term that Fall and got a black Intel Macbook in December '06. Served me very well!

A PPC iBook, I wouldn't. The PPC is outdated, and fading fast. I understand the nostalgia, but often I say, "Nostalgia smells musty". Use your discounts and get something like a MacBook (not an MB Air). MacBooks can have the memory and hard drive upgraded. They can also run the latest version of Mac OS X.

haha.. i'll try about but can't promise anything...

It's all about what u need it for,...

I guess that grows based on deceives u will be using. So easy to say, hard to do.

- uni/school mac (easy one) = Macbook Air, or 12-inch Macbook,, Apple won't switch back to PPC, that will be "Apple - doing the unbelievable"

Most posts on MR were started 10 years ago, so i dunno why we're complaining
