27 isn't a bad age to start. Both my parents didn't start their careers till 30/31 respectively, and they did really well (retired at 50). Mine didn't kick off till last year when I was 26. Another relative just closed down a business he put 15 years into, and at 36 he's starting right over again.
It's all good really. If you don't have a career by 40 you're screwed and/or interesting.
