My luck

    picked up 2017 512gb at Best Buy. Time machine then High Sierra then to work. Left speaker blown. Grrr.Apple support appointment Friday. Thinking of just returning it.

    They will just swap it out for new one within 14 days anyway, don't sweat it, it happens.

    Not this time, told they want to send it out for repair.

    return it and buy a new one then they can't be that stupid!!

    Just return it and get another unit. They are nice systems - sounds like you got one that didn't get quite enough QC love from the factory. Chances are your next one will be as close to flawless as a mass-manufactured device can be.

    I know I have that option, I’m under several project deadlines. I made a local genius desk appointment and will roll the dice with Apple CS. If Apple can’t swap it out then I will return it to Best Buy. I wonder if I should turn off file vault in case Apple will exchange it and do an in store migration.

    A month or two and this will all be behind you. You'll be enjoying your new MBP and probably never think of this again. Good luck with the swap.

    After talking with Apple, that was their recommendation as well, returned it bought a referb from Apple.

    Apple isn't going to swap it especially since you purchased from Best Buy. They'll only do repairs at this point. I think they have to repair at least 4 times before they swap for a new laptop. Just take it back to Best Buy. If you're a member your return period is 30 days.
