My mac wont remember anything

My mac doesn't save anything i do, lets say i place a new icon in my dock (yes im clicking keep in dock) when i log out and back in its not there anymore. It wont even save my history however it will still save documents and such.
Please help.

Are you sure you aren't using a guest account? Try repairing permissions with Disk Utility

yes i had this problem with a mac mini and it was SO annoying. so in the end i just ended up doing a fresh clean re-installation of mac OSX and bravo- all sorted, brother dont forget that no computer is perfect, but when comparing a mac to a pc... a mac is perfect
