Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me! I've recently busted my old hard drive, so I've replaced it with a momentus 500gb, which seemed to go smoothly. I also don't have an optical drive so I use an external optical drive. Insert snow leopard (my macbook is an intel, so no problems there) and everything goes great until it comes to the window "select a disk to install snow leopard", there are no options to choose! Is it the hard drive, the external optical drive, or something else? Help me please, there isn't a apple store for miles around. Thanks! (let me know if you need more info)

It must be DVD or else it wouldn't even be getting that far.

You need to open Disk Utility (Utilities menu) and create a partition.
