Nah... that won't hurt anything. As long as did not download and install anything, you are okay.

Chrome has a similar feature built in. Go to Chrome preferences and in the Privacy section click on content settings you will see this screen where you can turn off Javascript then only allow it on sites you have added to the manage exceptions list there.

You can test what I told you by turning Javascript off there and going back to the site and you will see you do not get the redirect any longer.

No problem with all the questions. I would be worried too if I started getting weird popups. :)

Thank you, thank you! :) It helped, it no longer redirects. I'm going to hold off from that website until they fix. Though, I'm surprised no one has mentioned it as it is a forum website?

Thanks once again!

They might not know. Try going to the site and look around on the front page for a "contact us" link or something and shoot the site owner an email.

You are quite welcome.

Let's back up a bit. You don't have a virus or malware either one.

What is happening is a web site you are visiting is using Javascript to hijack your browser and reroute you to that page you see there.

For Safari, quit Safari completely then hold the shift key down when you click Safari to relaunch it. That will stop the redirect from repeating.

Now to stop it from happening again, you have two choices. Either don't go back to that skeevy web site again. Or go into Safari preferences and turn off Javascript. Turning off Javascript may limit functionality of some legit web sites you need to use.

Or, you can leave Javascript on and use an extension like Javascript Blocker to only allow Javascript to run on sites you desginate.

Thank you for pointing out http://javascript-blocker.toggleable.com
I had been enabling javascripts to visit a couple of useful websites and then disabling it. Blocking javascripts on all websites unless they are whitelisted is a much better solution.

Update:

I've ask some members on another internet server to visit "media spy" and do come back saying nothing of URL4SHORTS has shown up. I'm starting to believe my WI-FI connection has been breached.

Wait, so one of the local moderators confirms the problem, but you're going to believe your wifi is breached? I weep for today's youth.

What you experienced has nothing to do with your Wi-Fi connection or network, and it is not malware. Relax and enjoy your Mac.

I understand I may be going over the top with this matter. But when I tested out using 4G not WI-FI, this url4shorts crap didn't show and opened the website like normal. It only occurs when history has been cleared and using my WI-FI and revisiting.

I just think somethings up, especially if other internet users are not getting the same issue. If all this was only from the website, don't you think others would see it as well?

For all intents and purposes people use virus and malware interchangeably. I understand that he may not mean a virus but something malevolent, i.e., malware.

Good catch there but by today's standards - malware is a catch all phrase for various software that includes viruses, trojans, worms, adware etc. The term virus is at times suspect because depending on who you ask, they would also consider worms and trojans as viruses.

Thing is I see it also. If you try what I suggested by turning off Javascript you will find it stops happening ever.

If it was something wrong with your Mac, you would be seeing this on other web sites also.
