My Macbook Pro is always booting in safe mode

My macbook pro was working fine, great actually but now for some reason it's always booting in safe mode and I don't know what to do?... and because of this I have no network connections please help grrr

I see this most often because of a stuck 'shift' key, but there could be a lot of reasons.

If you attempt to "verify disk" using Disk Utility, does it verify properly or does it state that the disk needs to be repaired?
