My MBP is giving me an awful lot of electric shocks when I place my right wrist on the laptop when typing.

What the hell's going on? And how to fix it?

i don't think it's anything more than regular static. i suggest buying some anti-static spray if the shocks bother you.

Don't scuff your feet in your carpet.
Also try and "ground" yourself to something metal by touching it...should work.

Yup, I'm plugged into a 240V mains. Here's the weird thing... when I was getting shocks, I was sitting at a desk at home, with no shows on, and my bare feet on old floor-tiles. When I put on my runners/sneakers - rubber-soled shoes - the problem went away. It certainly seems like some excess charge is trying to get to ground through my body, but not when I'm insulated.

Has anyone found out whether this is a serious, and potentially dangerous defect? Can it be fixed?
