My Macbook pro shows an error when I want to burn CDs and DVDs

I was trying to burn some cds and dvds today and everytime I would command my laptop to burn it would tell me an error has occured. It would say they laser was unable to caliberate or give me some error number. I have to mention though that I was able to burn a few days ago so I was surprised it said that. Apart from that my drive is functioning properly

Yes I installed microsoft messenger, yahoomessenger, limewire and updated my itunes

Mine does the same thing when i try burn disks. It plays disks fine though.

I just started having the same problem. I can play a DVD, but not burn.

Matshita DVD drives aren't the greatest. Try burning your CD at the lowest speed possible (2x for DVD and 8x for CD I think) in order to reduce the risk of error.

I had this problem. Your lens is dirty. You can either get a disc cleaner, which a dubious to say the least, or do what I did: Open up the actual drive and clean the lens directly with a q-tip and alcohol.

This will tell you how. Trust me, its the only fix for this error and it worked great for me.

I had this problem too, but with a unibody MacBook. I took it in to my local Apple store and they replaced the SuperDrive.

I am using sony CD-R with supremas and sony dvd with accucore
