I am typing this while tethered to my iPhone!!!

To you Rogers customers in Canada, this is now activated for you for free until the end of the year!!!

This is freakin' awesome!!!! 🙂

I wonder if they are doing if for free until 2010 to judge how much useage it will create so they can create a pricing scheme accordingly.

If that's the case then the more you use it now, the more they may charge for it later! :lol:

What do you mean 'tethered'? What's the big deal about having you iPhone plugged into your MB?
edit: Ah, you mean using the iPhone as a network card?

I was thinking along the lines of 'DSLR Tethered Shooting'.
 
I'm also typing this while tethered. SingTel included tethering in the data packages so there's no extra charge. The down side is that I only have 1GB of free data.

EDIT: Nevermind.

Any word yet on what the tethering charges will look like come January? I'm not on a data plan right now, but I'm tempted to pick up 6GB/$30 while its back... I don't need that much data, but tethering is included in that $30 then it might be worth it. Would love to be able to get internet anywhere I go...

They don't have an official word on how much at the moment nor do I have an idea. I guess we'll just try to enjoy this until the end of the year and hope it won't cost more.

I have a 6gig plan right now for $30 which I got from day 1 of the iPhone and I'm really glad I can now use my extra gig to surf. 🙂
 
what i find really stupid is that ..we are already paying the 30$ a month for data...so why also charge for tethering if we go over the 6gb then fine charge us...but charging us to use our own data connection...seems like a scam to me....i can't wait for DAVE wireless to come out in Canada...gonna put rogers in its place
 
Here is AT&T working with tethering. Visual Voicemail still works also. I got around 1.2Mbs/600Kbs for bandwidth.

And yes, my battery is way down cause I'm doing a Calibration.
