It acts almost like its too scratched to read the cd but I have tried a bunch that are in perfect shape. When I insert the dvd it makes some buzzing noise then stops, then does it again and then it ejects the disc, nothing comes up on the screen either. Im fairly new to macs and not very computer savy so I dont really know what to do:confused:

Ahh, that sucks. How many DVDs have you tried, and are they from different distributors? :)

I had this problem several months ago. Turned out to be a faulty drive, so Apple replaced it. The symptoms were identical.

I assume it's still under warranty?
    Go get it fixed.

Good chance it's the drive itself that's not working properly.

And just in case you start, Apple does not manufacture Superdrives. Therefore this is not Apple's fault. But of course, if it is still under warranty, they will fix it.

Will it recognize burnt DVDs or is it only commercial DVDs?
