My Memojis all disappeared with 17.1.1

Someone else wrote about this problem but I cannot find it now. I just updated to iPad iOS 17.1.1 which of course I was absolutely dreading because I knew some things would go wrong or disappear. I have now wasted over an hour of my precious Saturday trying to find Memojis. They have completely disappeared so I am now trying to create new ones, but I cannot find any place to go in order to create them. Someone else mentioned going to iMessage and then tapping on + and then tapping on stickers, but I cannot see what to do after that. Thanks in advance if you could help save what is left of my Saturday.

I ended up having to call Apple support about this and two other problems that occurred because of iOS 17.1.1. They were eventually able to figure it out but I’m sorry it is too complicated to explain here. It’s madness!
