Hello out there,

I just installed "istat" on my mac.
The graphic indicates that half or more of the memory on my mac is in use.
My question is on what. I don't have anything running.
Where is the memory going ?
I normally have only one page running at any given time. example, Hotmail.
yet, it says that I have 766 mb active, 198 mb wired, for a total of 968mb being used.

Or, could someone just explain how memory on a mac, works
Thanks a lot.

For now, Wazhushk

Do a spotlight search (Command + Spacebar) for "Activity Monitor" and then click on it. And then you'll want to set it to all processes like below and then sort by "real mem". Then take a screen shot (command + shift + 3), finally upload the screenshot here and we can tell you what is taking up all the RAM 🙂
