Since installing iOS27 PB on my iphone, any messages I send to another device on the same Apple ID are also sent to me. In the messages app it looks like I am I having a conversation with myself 😉

The other iphone is still on iOS26 and doesn't have any problems with messaging my phone, and sees none of the message duplcation. it is just the iOS 27 device which has this.

I don't have messages in the cloud activated (never have), and both devices are configured to use just thier own unique telephone numbers for incoming and outgoing messages. A constellation which has always worked flawlessly in the past. Messages sent anywhere else work perfectly too.

I have been considering updating the other device to iOS27 too, to see if that solves this ... but I fear that could be double trouble.

Note: I have already reported this Apple via the feeddback app.

Had the same. Reason was iMessage got logged into apple account. There are options in settings to configure send/receive and do log out just for imessage but it had glitched out. Solved by logging out the whole phone and logging in again.

Interesting. iMessage was always logged into the apple account previously and I had just manually deselected the email address options. In iOS 27 beta this seems to behave differently.
I tried logging out the whole phone and then back in again, but the issue remained.
I have now signed out of the apple account just for imessage… and this has indeed stopped the message duplication.

Dunno if there will be any disadvantages of signing out (I can’t think of any tbh in my setup). Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the suggestion!
