By summer 2011 I am going to purchase a macbook pro for college. I am going to list all the things I plan on getting and all I already have for it.

500gb firewire/usb hd drive:have
apple bt mouse/keyboard:will get
bose speakers: have
microsoft explorer mouse: have
best skins ever: will get
hard shell protection: will get
keyboard skin: will get
blu ray drive/burner: have in current laptop
hd dvd drive: have
carry case: will get by this summer

will list anything else I decide on.
Please list any suggestions you have.
 
By summer 2011? This would make an interesting story ... wait no it's just not interesting at all. Your wants/needs will change in 2 years but hey ... more power to you buddy.

Not really I dont use my computer for any high intensity graphic editing or anything just for internet, itunes, downloads, movies and the occasional game.
I plan on making this a thread that gets updated every time I get something on my ist or a product that someone suggested. this is supposed to be fun.

Thank goodness for my subscription ... I get notified when there are new posts! I would have missed it while I was cleaning up from dinner! :eek:

HD DVD lost the fight but hey ... you have a ton of movies with no reason to buy anything new in HD because your player can't handle Bluray.

I'd like to thank you genuinely for this thread making me smile while writing my dissertation. :)
 
wow...everyone seems to be being a jerk. Give the kid a break.

I would say, by 2011, firewire might not be around...firewire 800 or 1600 ( I think thats the new one) might still be there, but don't count on a drive with 400. Also by then USB 3.0 will be out and might be the new high speed standard. It is really hard to tell from this far away.
I've made lists of what I want and they change very frequently, as my needs/wants change. 2 years ago I wouldn't have really found a need for half the stuff I want...like a mixer, mics, monitors, ect. I always find the list will just keep growing.

Who knows, by 2011 maybe we wont even have mice anymore

He means university. So that makes him out to be 15 or 16.

OP: I'd say you should worry about buying your computer when the time comes, so, summer of 2011.

Oh ok, fair enough.

And yes, Technology will change so much in 2 years, who knows, we might not have the MacBook Pro then, and might not have a New Mac Mini (Har Har)

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I don't think anyone here really cares. In two years time, all the things you have for it and will get will be obsolete. Plus, did I mention we don't care?
 
Why dont you...Hackintosh your current laptop, Install X Code, Learn Cocoa, Make a popular and useful App, Sell it through the iTunes store, online or give it away for free and ask for donations via paypal, then use the money to buy a Mac Pro now rather than wait 2 years?
