Right heres my view.

Not being harsh but, 2 years is a long time. Just have a personal list, no need to make a thread.

Not to mention I don't think you even need a MBP for what you want to do but, nevermind.

Enjoy saving up, but then again, doesn't look like you need to

Sounds like the kid's had a few breaks. I think when I was 15 (in 1996) I was ecstatic because we got AOL for the first time. Granted we only got like 20 hours a month but I could IM and I thought that was awesome. This kid is that kid in the neighborhood that owned a Neo Geo and an Atari Lynx when everybody else was playing PacMan.

Seriously.

I don't appreciate you misquoting me.

Go for it dude.

I wouldn't listen to what some of the people in this thread are saying, just post whatever you feel like. It's not like they have to read it, right?

Some of you other guys need a reality check I think. Chill out.

planning to buy a notebook 2 1/2 years ahead?

come on, in 2 years you might be a windows fan for all we can know. I'm using macs since 94 and i'm not sure if i will stay with apple till 2011. if windows 7 turns out to be good i might change, if Linux gets simpler i might use that. most likely i will have a mac mini at home and a windows notebook for on the road. simply more choices on the windows side.

anyway, let's see if you can keep this thread going. update us on all your choices and why, almost like a blog. it might be interesting but most likely it will be boring and you stop doing it in a week.

if windows 7 turns out to be good i might change

Windows 7 sucks big time, after using the developer beta for 3 months it sucks massively, its actually worse than Vista, on the surface of things it seems snappier and faster, but deeper down its got serious issues, the workflow is so strange even an alien wouldnt understand it, when you open two windows of the same program you dont get both windows on your taskbar, you get one App tab which you have to hover open or click to see which windows you had open, it really sucks. Trust me you wont be leaving OS X soon.

Also Windows 7 is a nightmare for programmers, not to mention it doesn't support lots of aspects of Visual Studio 2008, which makes it very hard for people like me to program in C++ and C# in Windows.

tryed the windows beta on my current laptop and it only let me use 100gb of my hard drive and wouldnt play dvds

you said give the kid a break. i said he's had a few breaks. how is that misquoting you? misquoting you would be for me to change the actual text in my quoting of you which i did not do.

and more so, who deleted the post you just quoted me in - it's gone - not even in the thread anymore!?

you had me quoted as saying something about how he should find a girl or something. Which, I didn't say.

it was my first attempt at quoting two different people in one post, rather than having to do a second post in a row. Sorry - I was trying to quote the other guy who actually did say that and apparently I didn't know what I was doing.

oh, that makes a bit more sense. Sorry then, I just thought you were trying to make me sound like a jerk or something.

Wow, so this thread is actually getting a lot of attention

THis is almost as bad as when i posted the what should i get for my birthday thread.

I'm starting to believe you aren't a 15 year old kid but rather older and just instigating -- "what you should GET for your birthday?"

Because it is about a spoiled person wanting more expensive stuff..

You want something, You do the research about it, you save up for it, You buy it with your money.

End of story.

Jealous, much? Presumptious, much?

For all you know, he could be a real help around the house for his parents, they value his consideration, and have a few quid to buy him nice things. Don't be so presumptious.

This 'contributions' to this thread are embarrassing.

He's a kid, he's excited. So what? The sad thing is it annoys some of you so badly.

I don't know that it's jealousy - the thread just comes off as very spoiled and excessive; the OP gives the impression that he's got all these very expensive toys and wants more.

^^^ lmao lol :D

You're saying that to the guy who has 3 Gibson guitars, an Apogee audio interface, a 1964Fender Bassman, plus more stuff I saved up for.

~I'm not jealous, I am disappointed about how selfish some people are and how they get it by doing absolutely nothing.

You asked if this thread should be kept up, the majority voted no.

You will get a new Macbook Pro by the time you attend university.

allmIne, I don't see why you're so surprised this thread annoys people or are you really that naive?

I laughed. Children.

Why, The F*** would you ask an Internet Forum what you want for your birthday?

Please Mods, Lock this thread, this guy is literally gonna get ripped apart.
