My mom asked me today if there's a cellphone watch

My mom is totally addicted to her iPad. She called me one morning and told me she tried to update the OS and it crashed her iPad 2 and she couldn't get it to boot past the apple screen anymore. She wanted to know how much it would cost to replace so she could run out and buy a new one immediately. I had just gotten the iPad Air 2 and offered her my old iPad 3 as a no cost alternative, but she would have to wait until the weekend. She called me on Saturday morning a 8AM to remind me not to forget to bring "her" iPad and to get there soon. She said it was a rough week without it.

Man was she upset when she found out she lost millions in her favorite slot machine app (she was not backing up to icloud). I was able to put the old iPad 2 (which has a cracked screen no less but still works) into DFU mode and restore the OS. Now she has two.

The other day she was so excited that she figured out on her own how to take a picture with the iPad and send it by email. She sent a picture of a mole on my father's back to his dermatologist to see if it was something that needed to be looked at.

That's when I realized how amazing this technology is and how it changes peoples lives and that I just take it for granted.

My mom has come a long way now. She knows how to read emails, take pics and actually work thru the functionality of the iPhone. It always put a smile on my face everytime I see her play with the iPhone by herself without asking me. Easily one of the best purchases/gift I've given her.

You all talk on this post of the elderly as if we are dinosaurs, I have a iPhone 6, two iPads, Surface RT, Surface Pro, desktop PC, I look after all my families computers, tablets and give advice about their phones, and I have a Apple watch, I am the wrong side of 66yrs and know more about what tech is about than any of my four kids, the youngest 35yrs old and my neighbors teens come to me for help when thing go wrong, am I a IT expert, nope, I am a retired gardener who has a interest in all things tech, not quite ready for the grave. ; )
Touché!
I love the stuff. And I have a sister that is as dumb as can be when it comes to anything electronic!

Maybe I should teach her French while I'm at it

That's right. I'm "bashing" it because everyone else tells me how I should react. What age are we again?
You tell me, you are the one throwing tantrums and typing "lulz" like some teenager.

My mother is addicted to her iPad 2 as well. Best thing I ever bought her. She cried when I gave it to for Christmas a few years ago. She reads on it EVERY DAY. She was one of those "I'll never read a digital book ever! I want to hold the book in my hands." She hasn't touched a paper back since! haha
