My mom is totally addicted to her iPad. She called me one morning and told me she tried to update the OS and it crashed her iPad 2 and she couldn't get it to boot past the apple screen anymore. She wanted to know how much it would cost to replace so she could run out and buy a new one immediately. I had just gotten the iPad Air 2 and offered her my old iPad 3 as a no cost alternative, but she would have to wait until the weekend. She called me on Saturday morning a 8AM to remind me not to forget to bring "her" iPad and to get there soon. She said it was a rough week without it.
Man was she upset when she found out she lost millions in her favorite slot machine app (she was not backing up to icloud). I was able to put the old iPad 2 (which has a cracked screen no less but still works) into DFU mode and restore the OS. Now she has two.
The other day she was so excited that she figured out on her own how to take a picture with the iPad and send it by email. She sent a picture of a mole on my father's back to his dermatologist to see if it was something that needed to be looked at.
That's when I realized how amazing this technology is and how it changes peoples lives and that I just take it for granted.
