Hi All,

My mom somehow accidentally triggered some "Emergency SOS" alerts on her phone. I and all of her emergency contacts are getting alerts with her location via text messaging pretty often. I can't seem to disable this. Help?

Thanks for the link! Googled it myself and found that. The link does not specifically describe how to stop the alerts once they are consistently sending. If you try to re-start SOS mode, and the cancel, it does not stop the existing alerts, which have been sending since 10AM. Would love help from someone who has encountered this and solved it, as opposed to just a link.

Has she tried rebooting her phone?

Make sure she has auto call turned off, with this going on. Otherwise, she will get EMS coming to her house etc. and then she will get billed.

See the attached image. I get these alerts from my mom's phone and I can't figure out how to disable them.

Have her tap the notification that comes up on her phone when this happens. She should see a red stop button that will stop the text from going to you and others.

Looks like someone with an Apple Watch had this problem in 2016.

That support article (post #2) states:
If your location changes, your contacts will get an update, and you'll get a notification about 10 minutes later. To stop the updates, tap the status bar and select "Stop Sharing Emergency Location." If you keep sharing, you'll get a reminder to stop every 4 hours for 24 hours.
Is there no sharing info on the status bar when the location updates are sent out?

(same info that BasicGreatGuy listed - I'm slow, I guess)
