So, this is weird.

In the US ITMS (and in Apple Music), Smashing Pumpkins' album "Pisces Iscariot" has suddenly disappeared. Is this sort of thing a regular occurrence? It really makes me re-think spending $99/year on a service, FOREVER, when even my downloaded music can suddenly stop playing because of spats between Apple and whatever publisher ... Now all I can do is find the CD and re-rip it, I guess ... probably easier to just pirate it somewhere (is it actually piracy if I own the CD?) ... I guess that's besides the point. Apple Music ... not so reliable for long-term collection building, is it?

You’re probably better off hosting your music files (if possible) for things you own. It’s possible that licensing for music expires in music streaming services. I would never trust solely a music streaming service, even if it was Apple, for long term collection building.

This is a problem. Everything by the Japanese group Denki Groove has been withdrawn by Sony as they don't want to be associated with one of the band members who was caught in possession of an illegal substance. They stopped manufacturing all CDs, and withdrew all of the music from digital services. I can only play the music I previously purchased from the iTunes store, not the more recent releases I obtained from Apple Music (which were not on sale anyway). Annoying.

You are paying for a service. You don't own the downloads. Apple does as its all DRM. You can get around it, but i won't mention that here. If that's an issue, loosing music, then perhaps get the music you elsewhere, that you wanna keep forever, or buy the cd. But $99 a year is more like, "all the msic you could want" under one roof (...sort of) but comes at a "side effect"
