I uploaded 20gb of music onto my new mac, and now i have a folder for 'my music'. but when i try to drag/copy/add that folder to my itunes library, it seems to duplicate the songs so that it doubles up on my memory. Basically, you can find the music in the I-tunes library and in 'my music.'
This happened when I first transferred my music from my PC. I only transferred 27 gigs, but it took up double the space. I found the other folder that it was in and deleted it, but now it happens every time i add more music...

any suggestions?
thanks.

iTunes > Preferences
Select Advanced
Uncheck "Copy Files to iTunes Music folder..."

actually, i would suggest leaving the music in the iTunes folder and deleting the "my music" folder. then, you don't have to worry about unchecking the "copy files..." box because the files will automatically add themselves to the iTunes folder.

exactly

You can also move that folder to an external and have itunes point to the location...if thats what you are worrying about😱
