:( :( I have just found out my mom washed my 2nd gen 4gb green ipod nano (after thoughtfully collecting my clothes off my floor in my room). Its not turning on. Should I plug it into itunes? What should I do??
Has anybody had any similar experiences? :( :( :( :(

ouch. wait for it to dry. Make sure every last bit of water is out. be 100% sure it's all gone. Then and only then should you plug it in. I wouldn't recommend plugging it into your computer, or at least one you care alot about. It might fry the usb port, if there is any water in it at all.

Do this and you *might* have a working ipod. My opinion, its busted, don't get your hopes up.

waiting for it to be dry is true for any electronic that has been washed or watered. You could take the battery out of your laptop and submerge it, wait for it to dry completely, and it works. (in theory anyways)

How much battery did you have? Thats going to be the killer here.

Chill! It's not as bad as it sounds. Whatever you do, don't plug it in!
When electronics get wet, they often go dead as there is no contact between the battery and the electronics. Plugging it in now guarantees that you'll fry something.
Give it 48 hours to dry. Then plug it in and see if you get a response. Chances are you will. My GF once dropped my phone in a pool. I dove in, got it, let it dry, and it was fine. Whatever you do DON'T PLUG IT IN.

Ok thanks guys. I will let it dry out for 48 hrs and then plug it in to a windows pc lol. It had about half battery. Will keep you posted.

I put my regular iPod through the wash

although I had it in a case. After I let it dry out, it would turn on but then I would get the sad iPod more than likely because the hard drive wasn't designed to be spun that much.

Your nano, having no moving parts, may fare a bit better, though you didn't say whether or not you had a case on it.

IT LIVES!!!! Well at least it seems to. It didnt have a case on it. I let it dry out for 2 and 1/2 days on a sunny window ledge. :D :D :D :D

why wasn't this posted last April? i have-- well, i had-- a small laptop-type thing with a synthesized voice because i can't talk. then i was caught in a huge rain strom with no cover. it was quasi-ok at first then it wouldn't work at all when i plugged it in. i've been using my cell phone to write text's to people.

What??

I guess he means since he cannot physically talk, he had to use a computer generated voice by typing words. The rain fried this and he couldn't communicate, so he's been texting.

I dont see how this relates to an iPod in the wash from months ago...?

i believe he is makeing a reference to the fact that he could have used this info last april. but i think he fried his machine. but if this post had happened last april he might have let it dry out then.... like this ipod...

Help!!!!!!!!

I normally take my ipod everwhere i go but i was gong out with friends who i havent seen in years when i came back my GF had put my jeans with my 2GB silver ipod nano in the wash unfortunetly i only found this out in the morning after when the washing machine had stopped then i tried to charge on my computer but it wont work what do i do??????

Wrap it in a towel and leave for a few days on a radiator.

My wife's Nano ended up in the cat's drinking water bowl. I know that's not as bad as going through a wash cycle with detergent and fabric softener, but you may be lucky.
I agree that you should not plug it into your computer, just in case.

Hope it regains consciousness.

Ipod Nano third generation (the one with big screen)

My ipod nano 3rd generation went through the wash a week ago .. i let it dry out but when i plug into my stereo it started to charge and it turned on; after a few minutes i noticed that the back of the ipod was getting very warm so i unhocked it from the charger. The backlight doesnt seem to be working event though i played around with the settings to see if i could get it working. Also the clicker is not working. (not that important but still notable) Luckily all of the content is still on it but it is extremely hard to see without the backlight. Is there anything i can do to make it work again or where should i go for a repair?
