An iMac with a 1TB spinner might actually seem like a downgrade as compared to a Macbook Air with an SSD. Pay close attention to that return date.

I hope you know that you can't upgrade that 8gb ram by yourself?

Why didn't you wait till WWDC to see if there is a refresh? Not only that you would get better model but if you wanted older gen you would get it cheaper. This close to refresh, not sure I would compliment you :)
Of course its your money but I just feel unease when Apple charges this much money for such old tech with spinning HDD on top of it. Sorry but if you can, maybe consider returning it in the return window as I feel that if there is a "substantial" refresh as rumours indicate then you will regret this and will have resentment towards your decision.
Up to you though :)

the 2019 iMac is still a grate year plus the 10th general core chips have some over heating issue that's why I did not wait tell WWDC if the 10th gen core chips did not have any overheating issues I would have gotten the new MacBook Air 2020 and not a iMac I think the 8th general for is find for my needs and still a big upgrade over the 5th gen core I have in my 2017 MacBook Air

and I don't no how the new 10th gen core chips will do in the new iMac yet and if there will be any overheating issue like on the laptops will have too wait for the review and commit on here and see what people think after they get the new iMac and do there tests

how ever if I get other stimulus check at some point in the further and once I here some of the reviews and there so real issue on the overheating issue on the 10th gen core I may upgrade too the 2020 model but for right now am vary happy with the 2019 one

I understand but I think you could have waited especially this close to WWDC.
Also, its not just the CPU but other things that will provide longevity and resale value to your computer. When the next update comes, the computer you got today will drop even further so you are essentially losing a lot of money :)
Up to you of course but I am a value person and I know that I wouldn't do it the way you did so I have offered a suggestion to reconsider whilst you still have time.
Seeing that you still have a computer I'm sure those few weeks won't probably be too bad on that computer. :)
Think about it ;-)

Congrats. Glad to hear you like your new iMac. I bought mine last May after also wanting a 5K iMac since they were first announced years ago.

cool boy oh boy when I 1st open the box up and unpacked it I did not think the 21.5" iMac was this big I was thinking the iMac would be a tad smaller in screen size am vary happy with the 21.5" screen size the 27" screen size would have been way too big for me I really love the keyboard not too big or not too small its this the right size for me

and Congrats on your long awaited iMac 5k now if apple made a 5k 21.5 screen that would be grate

You can't upgrade the 21.5" 4K models.

Yes you can (the 2019 ones anyway). It’s just a fairly difficult job. The RAM is not soldered.

You can take them into an Apple certified repair shop or Apple store and pay for an upgrade.

I got me a Bluetooth blackweb speaker and I have too say the sound is now much better with my computer then the speaker than the build in speaker that came with my iMac

I was so close to pulling the trigger on an iMac last month, but I probably would have destroyed it with a sledgehammer if they announced a refresh at WWDC.

you no you could could have gotten the 2019 model then once the new model came out you could keep the 2019 model has a back up and you could all so used the 2019 model has a beta testing iMac some in too think about

lol what kind of disposable money do you have

lol seems like every one on here is so rich and stuff that every time apple comes out with some in on day one they rush too the apple web site and order there iPhone iMac iPad apple watch apple tv MacBook Pro or MacBook Air on day one not sure how they do it
