One of the long time worries I had about getting a new iPad was how I would use it. The way it worked before is I did not have a cell phone at all. The iPad was paired with Verizon MiFi. It didn't work that well. When I got my first iPhone, a 6S using it as a hotspot didn't work that well either. So I just did not use the iPad at all, and finally when it stopped getting updated I just put it away. This experience put me off getting a new iPad for years. Thanks to advice gathered here and on TWiT iOS Today I finally decided to get a new one. We all expected an M3 iPad. I knew what I wanted otherwise, The largest screen, its own cell connection, and 16 gigs RAM. Well the iPad Pro had the M4 Silicon, and a really advanced display, and as before 1TB of storage got me 16 gigs of RAM.
I am very happy the way it has worked out. What changed everything was the Mac Studio. The iPad stays at home, and the iPhone is what I carry with me. The iPhone and the Apple watch are the perfect out and about devices, and the iPad is my home buddy, which works great with My Mac Studio. If I ever have a reason to take the iPad out of the house it has it's own cellular connection, no more MiFi's or iPhone hotspots. I have several cases I can put it in. The Logitech case has the keyboard. I think I am going to continue the tradition I have with the OtterBox Defender case. It is a simple very protective case that does not have any hanging, folding things stuck on it. I have an expensive leather folio case coming in a couple of weeks, we will see how it works out.
I might go for a MacBook Air if I ever feel the need for a full Apple computer to be used in the great outdoors, but it would rarely be used at home.
