Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum so please forgive any ignorance I display or any forum faux pas that i may make...

My new 27 in iMac has been nothing but trouble since i got it. Originally It went into kernel panic several times, a few weeks apart... I didn't really think much of it at the time but now my computer is crashing (sometimes not showing the grey screen that comes with the panics) every 5 minutes and is thus useless. The error report looks like this:

Interval Since Last Panic Report: 32680 sec

Always fun going through these.

Anyway, the kernel panic was caused by the power management system holding the lock for some kernel resource too long which was required by another part of the... blah blah... you don't need to know.

Uhm, well, the first part is important.

Seems like something strange is going on this power management, I suggest resetting the System Management Control (SMC) which encapsulates things like, tada, power management

Thanks for the fast replies.

celticpride678: I don't have any external hardware connected and i have tried repairing the disk permissions although there is one 'SUID' warning that it says can't be repaired.

Vylen: Thanks, very helpful... I will go and look into that now.

Yes, those can be ignored.

I'd recommend doing what Vylen said and reset your SMC and PRAM.
