Back story…

Bought a new 2024 24” iMac 10/10 24GB/512GB in Dec via Amazon; set it up, superb machine. Never got used… 🙄

I upgraded my previous M1 MBA to the 15” M3 MBA and that’s what I reached for every time, it’s my work computer, but also just too handy to get and go so to speak…

So iMac sold the other day and I bought a new M2 13” IPA via Amazon UK as the price was dropped 14% again and it made sense to go for it (ESR keyboard case and Apple Pencil bought too)

I umm’d and ahh’d re iPad Air vs iPad Pro etc - 13”. Price difference is massive; I’ve no need for cellular and no need for the power of a Pro (I’ve got my MBA for stuff like that)

Very impressed with the 13” IPA; it’s screen size is brilliant, already used it as SideCar for my MBA when editing docs etc; great to be able to have the iPad in portrait mode, more so with PDFs and MS Word docs etc

It’s great for reading Kindle and magazines via Pocketmags etc and for stuff like YouTube too 😉

I think this is a ‘if you’re looking into the same’ advice post etc - unless you really need the power of the Pro, or you have to have the latest chip. Strike whilst the irons hot and Amazon have dropped the prices on the iPads 👌🏼

I really only bought the Pro for Face ID and the OLED screen. I do some professional work with it, like designing and printing shelf tags and such, but I don’t see why I couldn't use any other iPad for that.

That I get re the FaceID; it is easier. But it’s also very easy to touch your finger to the power button etc :)

I don’t do any work on my iPad that needs that screen, so to speak

Compared it this morning to my wife’s iPad Pro 12.9 M1 and there’s not a lot in it at all. The blacks are blacker, but that’s about it to my eyes

Although the iPad Pro speakers are better; it’s not night and day better
