I also have 5A345, I've had no problems, so need need in restoring.

I think 5A345 is the right build, attached is a screen shot of the About page of an iPhone 3G that was in store, and the build is 5A345. I believe 5A345 is the proper build, not 5A347 like what everyone else is saying.

Pippen - No. 47 is the latest build. The earlier iPhones have 45 but starting with week 29 (in my experience), they come with 47 installed. When you restore the phone to factory, Apple gives you 47. It's the latest.

But the iPhones in the Apple Store should be upgraded to the latest build as well, so why didn't Apple update them as well? People on this thread have mostly agreed that 5A345 is a better build. I just don't understand why Apple would release such a unstable version of 2.0 as it's final product.

Pippen - The phones in the Apple store are like week 24-26 or so. I'm sure they felt no need to keep them updated. It's not like the update gives us an extra app or something.

45 is old, 47 is new. Period.

Not sure why you're calling 47 unstable. Or where you're getting reports that 47 is buggy. I've only read that it helped some with lag, etc.
I see no difference between the 45's and 47's myself at all.

If your phone is acting up, I suggest its for another reason than 47.

47 is definitely *slightly* more stable for me... apps don't close themselves anymore as before (ie. crash) and Contacts app is somewhat improved (still not perfect!)

One thing I have noticed which I'm not sure if anyone else can confirm. The screen dims in 47 before it goes blank based on your timeout settings (just like it can on your Mac). I don't recall it doing this in 45. It's not an important feature but anything that adds a little bit to battery life is welcome. :D

i have 45 and my wife has 47.

there's not much difference in performance: crashing, stability and what-not.

she has the laggy keyboard and i have the laggy contacts. that's 'bout it.
