Having been a PC user for so long, I finally entered the mac world. I got the low end Macbook Pro over the weekend and so far I did not have any complaints. The design is classic, the speed is lightening fast, the screen is gorgeous (and so much easier to read), and the operating system is so user friendly. I don't know why some people complain about this recent update. To me, it's a great machine and it really just works!

As a newbie, just out of curiosity, I would like to ask you guys if there is any test I need to run to see if my mac is really "perfect". Thanks guys and I enjoy this website, too.

See if it will make coffee and two eggs over easy in time for your breakfast tomorrow morning. If your MBP passes this test, then I think it's a pretty good bet it's just about perfect ;)

Nope - This would be deemed "excellent"

If it did the dishes afterwards it would be "Perfect!" :)

lol there are no tests. look at the tutorials videos at apple and if you realize that it really is that easy to do what you want, than a mac is right for you.

    use it on a coffeeshop.
count the number of heads/pair of eyes that will be looking at your machine.
if you have 3 within 10minutes..that's a perfect beauty right there!
    now off you go!

I too got my mac book pro its just awesome.

Still not so comfortable with Mac, but getting used to it pretty quick.

Two things that is little annoying

    1. I am not yet feeling good with the keyboard, I was a think pad user.
    2. I got the previous gen MBP, so its getting hot and its getting pretty much hot in the palm rest area

Other than these things, I love the quality in it.

Yeah I miss the trackpoint. The keyboard isn't too bad once you get used to it. Also it's not as loud. Just don't ever buy the new Apple keyboards. Those are just terrible.

I'm absolutely floored by how nice my new 17" LCD-backlit MBP is. I'm having none of the more commonly reported issues here. I had everything I wanted to migrate off my Windows laptop on the MBP in a single day, including my Firefox profile. I was recording my Sirius Internet Radio stream the same night I got it.

It's a remarkable piece of engineering designed to delight the owner. It succeeds.

I look forward to my first visit to the local Starbucks... :D

thats because you dont have the display/sleep problem

if you're starts giving you a black screen when waking from sleep like about 50% of this forums do then you will see what we are whining about
