So I was debating between getting the new 13" MBP or perhaps a, cough, Lenovo, cough...and then boom a 2015 15" MacBook Pro Retina arrived on the Refurb store. I couldn't resist, since it was so close to the purchase price of the 13".

My machine arrived on Thursday. I was pretty stoked. Upon opening it I noticed a scratch to the right of the trackpad, and one above the right speaker. I have bought reforms before and never have had an issue. It was not so bad but my eye would always gravitate towards this. Later that evening my Delete button got stuck down. This immediately became frustrating. I called Apple and they told me to go for a walk in to my nearest store because otherwise I would have to wait a week or two for an appointment.

When I arrived to the Apple store I was greeting by an employee and I explained the situation, he called his manager over who introduced himself and then continued the conversation by saying he has never seen a refurb like this and that it was unacceptable. 5 minutes later another employee came out from the back with a brand new laptop. We unboxed it, looked it over, and now..I am typing from my brand new MacBook Pro 15" Retina.

Thank you.

Coming from the 2011 15" model I cannot tell you enough how amazing this machine feels and performs. I will be using it exclusively for software development and it feels blazing fast. The real estate is splendid.

Time to learn about this Force Touch!

Cheers

You'll love it! I had a 2015 Macbook Air 13", which I gave to my fiancé who loves it. I'm slowly but surely making him into an Apple fan. I have a 2015 Macbook Pro 15" with the R9 m370x video card that my university has given to me part of my tuition, I love it dearly; however, the school is terrible so I transferred but I am able to keep this machine!

I only wish that the battery life was similar to the Macbook Air but I do photography editing so whatever! I love force touch.

Congrats and enjoy your new baby :)

I always enjoyed going from an older computer to a brand new one. The performance delta if you wait long enough is big enough that you get that wow factor :D

that's the prize to have the Lenovo ditched :D

BTW, congrats. Im not sure here in Europe a store manager would have done such a good move, giving you a brand new unit.
Spec wise, were they identical ?

Customer service is what always gravitated me to Apple. You won't find that kind of experience with Lenovo.

Last night we just bought our very first Macbook Pro 15 Inch, we always had windows laptops but decided to make the jump. We have had it out 24 hours and its is amazing, I can say I will never go back to a PC System again, ours is the new 2015 MBP with Force Touch. I love the speed of the solid state drive to.

They just gave me a new 15" too. My 2013 model had problem after problem and finally they gave me a spanking new 2015. It's a pretty awesome machine. As far as the Force Touch goes, this is what i've discovered. Go to Safari (I'm a Firefox man and hopefully they will catch up soon) For my tests I went to the LA Times site, but go wherever you want. Force press on any word, and you get the definition and thesaurus info. Force press on a name and you get a bio and links to videos and other things like the persons wiki page. Force press on any link and you get a preview of that link without leaving the page that you are on. Force press on any file on your desktop or in any folder and you get a preview of whats in that file.

Enjoy, I've had mine for 2 weeks now and couldn't be any happier

Year after year I rely on my new 15" MBPR models for work and personal use. These laptops have been truly exceptional. Fast smooth and rock solid with terrific consistency and reliability.

I do upgrade to the newest model, buying max ram, SSD capacity etc only because the work I do is resource intense therefore the faster and more capable the better.

I'm sure you will find as I have over the test of time MacBook Pro's are a joy to use. :D

Wow, so lucky. Not only do you no longer have to worry about a failing GPU, you got a great deal on a new MacBook Pro and get to enjoy the retina display and insane performance.

That's worth being jealous about.

Congrats! I am still learning how to use Force Touch. How is that video card? I didn't get the upgraded model because I figure if I need GPU horsepower in the future I will just grab a Sonnet with a workstation card.

Congrats and enjoy your new baby :)

This is exactly what is happening right now. It's blazing fast. I cannot get over how light this machine is as well. The Retina screen is amazing for a laptop. I am used to 4k on my Desktop and the old MBP wasn't cutting it.

Thanks! Yes, they were identical. 2015 15" base.

I bet. When my MBP first died before the repair program was initiated I was pissed, so I built a custom PC. Not only did they fix my 2011, the service shown here was exceptional.

Thank you. I am glad that you got a new one. I am still trying to get used to Force Touch, or learn how to use it for lack of a better term.

Yes. This thing is blazing fast. I am glad I settled on the 15" and not the 13". What sort of work do you do? I am using it primarily for software/web development at the moment.
