I have not noticed a pattern of posts here from users with this same problem, so I kinda doubt it is an issue with something in the OS that needs to be patched.

So that leaves two possibilities. Either you have a hardware defect, or you have installed some app or utility that is incompatible with Sierra that is causing the KP.

Try booting to safe mode by holding the shift key at startup. That will stop all launch and startup items and any utilities and such from running. Does that fix it? If it does, that tells you it is something you have installed causing the problem.

Come back and let us know the results of the safe mode test.

First, thanks for the reply. The thing is that KP happens only sporadically, maybe every 2 or 3 days. So, in order to detect the problem, will I need to run in safe mode for 2-3 days or longer? I guess I'm a little confused.

I experience this a lot. About 50% of the time when I try and wake my computer from sleep I get this. I was intending on waiting until the next OS update to see if the issue was resolved.

Yes, you would.

If you're getting multiple KPs, then yes I'd say reach out to Apple and get it replaced.

Should I replace it while I still can? Or can it be fixed with a simple software update?

Anybody else experiencing them?

Thanks

I have not seen many reports of this; any at all honestly. I would replace it immediately through an exchange while you can.
