Hi guys..i just got the newest version with the GT 750M

First thing i did was to check out what display model i got "being afraid of the image retention and tints issue"
Now i'm confused and freaking out :)

Manufacturer: 00000610
Model: 0000A019

And from Terminal
LP154WT1-SJE1 ( I guess it's LG)
DCN44612V51FF0NB0

I noticed somewhere here in the forums that 610 is Samsung..but i found out too that 019 is LG which freaked me out!

So my questions are:

1- Is it Samsung or LG?
2- If it's LG does the SJE1 make a difference? "As i just learnt that the other SJA-1 was first generation"
3- If it's LG should i do the image retention test? And does the test have any side effects and make it worse later?

Please note that i can't just replace it to get another model as in my country it's impossible unfortunately!

Waiting for your help and Merry Christmas :D

Why are you worrying? If it develops this issue, then get it replaced at an Apple Store.

No need to cause drama and panic over nothing.

Have a very merry Christmas!

Yeah, its an LG. Stop worrying about nothing, it's just forum hype. I can't fault the LG SJE1 display on my machine.

Enjoy your new Mac. Merry Christmas.

just send that junk over to me and buy a dell or something!

I found several members here having issues with image retention and LG display models..so it's my right to be concerned and ask for help as i assume is one of the reasons for this forum! I'm not saying it's junk i'm just afraid and concerned about some REAL issues that happened here..and buying Dell or other computer is something up to me! P.S. I owned Dell..HP..MBP..and had issues here and there and even my 2011 model was the defective GPU and there's a class-action lawsuit about that as you may know..so i don't want further problems with the new one and want to make sure it's ok and i guess it's not a crime..i just asked for help on a specific issue not for buying other computers..anyway thanks. And if i have two i would have sent you one right away it's Christmas :) No hard feelings and Merry Christmas

Thanks for your reply..i guess you are right..it's nothing now i know just the posts about problems arising later is worrying me..as the only problem is that in my country it's impossible to have decent service or replacement even with Apple's authorised service centres..i have many bad experiences. Anyway merry Christmas :)

Stop worrying about nothing. Enjoy your new Mac.

I will try then and enjoy it :) Thanks

Several out of how many sold? There's your answer.

Internet forums like MacRumors tend to attract the people with problems - it's not a representative sample. Sure, there might have been some problems with early production displays, but that was in 2012 when retina displays were in their first generation. We're two years down the line, and similar displays are fitted to many laptops from other manufacturers.

I've got a rule of thumb - never buy from the first batch of new design of computer - there's always the odd issue to iron out. My Rev A 2006 MacBook Pro had all sort of issues that were mostly ironed out with EFI updates, but ultimately still required a logic board swap for a later revision board to solve audio and bluetooth interference issues.

Great news! Thanks a lot..you really made me feel relieved..specially if it's coming from Manchester so it's a good sign! :) Avid Man United fan here! But if we are talking about City..not a very good sign then! :D Kidding
Merry Christmas mate

Yeah, don't pre-create problems where one doesn't exist. Use the thing and enjoy it, and if something breaks on it, THEN send it in for repair.

How about you use the machine? If you don't see image retention with normal use I don't how this is even remotely an issue.

This forum really is OCD anonymous. Jeez.

I had to get my Samsung panel display replaced a few weeks ago due to dead pixels, they aren't infallible either.

Unfortunately it happened in less than 2 weeks even if it's faint..full details on this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20568362

I'm sorry to hear that and hoping the new one won't have any issues..i just don't know why apple still have these problems if they were arising from the very first batches and we are 3 years later and still experiencing this!
